Taking a trip up to Abergavenny ...

ABERGAVENNY (Jack Geller / Frere Manston) Marty Wilde - 1968

Taking a trip up to Abergavenny Hoping the weather is fine If you should see a red dog running free Well, you know he's mine A chase in the hills up to Abergavenny I've got to get there and fast If you can't go Then I promise to show you a photograph Ah, passing the time with paradise people Paradise people are fine by me Sunshine forever, lovely weather Don't you wish you could be.....

Had a bad start to the day - traffic wise - as I wanted to check out a nearby canal before I left Abergavenny. It was the narrowist, tiniest, windiest little road with a sudden drop into a deep drain on one side. I hugged the rock wall on the other side so closely I hit the side mirror on it. Luckily the cars here are built for that and it just flipped in without damage.

Then after getting to nearly the top, there was a hairpin turn with ... a locked gate! Nowhere to go but reverse back and try to avoid the deep drain in a five point turn.

BUT, when I parked the car illegally and ventured out on foot up a flight of narrow steps to the canal above, it was worth the effort.

There I found a gorgeous little canal with a canal boat approaching as I got there.

Isn't this just too lovely and gorgeous?
